Vertebral misalignment can occur for a variety of reasons. The most common causes are:- trauma;
- weakness of the muscular corset;
- excessive physical exertion;
- sudden movements;
- osteochondrosis, herniated discs and other diseases.
With vertebral instability, a person feels severe pain in the back, it can be constant or occur in attacks (“shoots”) when turning, bending, sudden changes in body position.
Displacement of the upper vertebrae relative to the lower is called
“spondylolisthesis”. It is observed both in older people due to osteochondrosis, and in young people (even teenagers). Often such changes are detected in athletes (gymnasts, soccer players, tennis players, dancers).
The lumbar spine is most often affected, because it is the main load of body movements.
